Admission process

Candidates coming from ESADE's Research Master in Management Sciences

Having successfully passed ESADE's Research Master in Management Sciences does not imply automatic admission to the PhD.

The participants who are interested in joining ESADE's PhD on completing the Research Master in Management Sciences should notify the Programme Director. The PhD Commission will assess their application in accordance with three criteria: the academic record of the candidate, the research skills demonstrated during the MRes and the affinities between the candidate and ESADE's lines of research.

It is important to remark that although the average number of students admitted to the PhD is 10 per academic year, the PhD places offered in each department can vary in accordance with the theses read. These people do not have to present the admission application to the programme, or to take any kind of admission test.

Candidates who have taken their Research Master in an institution other than ESADE can access ESADE's PhD or MSc after successfully completing the following admission process:

To begin the process, you need to send Admissions the duly completed admission application. Download the admission application.

You must send all the documentation detailed on the admission application. It is very important that you do so soon, as we will not begin to assess your application until we receive it.

It is compulsory to take an admission test. You can choose between taking the GMAT or the GRE.

You should have a personal or telephone interview as part of the admission process.

Approximately one month after taking all the steps necessary, you will be notified whether or not you have been admitted.

If the result is positive, the final admission will be conditional upon you complying with all the academic requirements before the programme begins. Consult the academic requirements for further information.

Admission tests

Candidates for the PhD who have not taken ESADE's Research Master in Management Sciences must compulsorily take an admission test Candidates can choose between two admission tests: the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) and the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).

Both are tests which are held exclusively in English in any city of the world. Remember that on taking any of these tests you should indicate the code of ESADE's PhD so that they will send us your results direct:
