- To study the concepts and management tools that every family business executive should be familiar with and know how to apply, with special attention to their integration in terms of general management.
- To foster not only the expansion of knowledge, but also the capacity to implement that knowledge through management skills and interpersonal relationships.
- To provide management training to family business managers and enhance the development of these family businesses through a Business Plan.
By the end of the programme, participants will have developed a long-term overview of the direction in which they want their company to take and the essentials for achieving success. They will also have access to a Business Plan that includes a description and assessment of the measures and resources necessary to attain their objectives. In addition, participants will benefit from training services, events and advice offered by the Family Business Forum, organised by the Basque Chambers of Commerce.

This programme is aimed at executives with at least 4 years’ professional experience in positions related with decision-making.
As a result it is aimed at three groups in particular:
- General managers involved in running a family business, whether or not they are the owners of the company.
- Company shareholders/partners who require training to develop management functions involved with boards of directors or family boards.
- Heirs with management responsibility within the family business.
It has been demonstrated that, regardless of short-term economic conditions and the sector involved, some companies expand and improve their competitive position and, as a result, obtain excellent results and profitability. Our ongoing observation of the business world has allowed us to identify the main characteristics of these companies:
- Long-term planning of objectives and strategies
- Efficient resource management
- Customer orientation as a reference point in decision-making
- Proactive management of change (Innovative spirit) and ability to anticipate change/trends
- Structuring of family-firm relations and capacity to build and motivate teams
